*Automotive Key & Storefront Sales Technician*
*Northern Security ? Sudbury, Ontario*
*Full-Time | Permanent*
Do you like cars, tools, technology and figuring out how things work?
Northern Security is looking for an energetic, mechanically minded person to join our Sudbury storefront team.
This is *not a traditional customer service desk job*.
You’ll work directly with customers while learning the technical side of locksmithing, automotive keys, remotes, electronic fobs, locks and security products.
A big part of the job is helping customers understand their options and making recommendations that solve problems before they become emergencies.
*What You’ll Be Doing*
You’ll help customers with things like:
* Cutting and duplicating residential, commercial and automotive keys
* Programming automotive keys, remotes and electronic fobs
* Helping customers replace lost or damaged vehicle keys
* Identifying locks, keys and hardware
* Rekeying and repairing locks
* Selling locks, padlocks, keys and related security products
* Answering customer calls and inquiries
* Supporting our field technicians when required
*The Person We’re Looking For*
We’re less concerned about whether you’ve worked in the locksmith industry before.
We can teach locksmithing.
We’re looking for someone who is:
* *Mechanically curious.* You enjoy taking things apart, understanding how they work and solving problems.
* *Interested in automotive.* You don’t need to be a licensed mechanic, but cars, automotive electronics, accessories or vehicle technology should genuinely interest you.
* *Good with people.* You enjoy talking to customers and can build rapport quickly.
* *Energetic.* You like staying busy and moving between customers, technical work and shop responsibilities.
* *Comfortable with technology.* Automotive key programming equipment, computers, software and electronic security products don’t intimidate you.
* *Organized and reliable.* Details matter when you’re working with people’s keys, vehicles and security.
*Experience That Would Catch Our Attention*
Experience in any of these areas would be helpful:
* Automotive parts or accessories
* Automotive dealerships
* Mechanics or automotive service
* Retail sales
* Hardware stores
* Locksmithing
* Electronics
* Small engine repair
* Trades or mechanical work
* Car audio or remote starters
* Powersports
* Tools or equipment sales
None of these are mandatory.
*Mechanical aptitude, attitude and the ability to connect with customers matter more to us than having the perfect résumé.*
*Requirements*
* Valid Ontario G2 or G driver’s licence
* Ability to pass a criminal record check
* Available for full-time work
* Strong verbal communication skills
* Able to work independently while also being part of a team
* Willing to learn new technical skills
