Job Description
*Overview*
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Cook to join our dynamic kitchen team. As a Cook, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of our food service by preparing high-quality meals in a fast-paced environment. Your expertise in food preparation and safety will contribute to delivering exceptional dining experiences for our guests.
*Responsibilities*
* Prepare and cook Indian dishes such as curries, tandoori items, biryani, naan, appetizers, and sauces
* Follow recipes, portion sizes, and food presentation standards
* Prepare ingredients by washing, cutting, marinating, grinding spices, and making sauces
* Operate kitchen equipment such as stove, tandoor, fryer, grill, and ovens
* Maintain consistent taste, quality, and food safety standards
* Check food inventory and inform the kitchen manager when supplies are low
* Store food properly and label/date ingredients
* Follow FIFO (first in, first out) procedures
* Maintain a clean and organized workstation
* Wash and sanitize cooking equipment, utensils, and surfaces
* Follow health and safety regulations, including temperature control and hygiene practices
* Assist with menu preparation and daily kitchen prep
* Work with kitchen staff to coordinate orders during busy service periods
* Train or assist junior kitchen staff when required
* Minimize food waste and control portions
* Handle customer orders and special dietary requests when needed
*Requirements*
* Previous experience in a indian restaurant or food service environment is preferred.
* Knowledge of food safety regulations and best practices for food handling.
* Ability to work efficiently under pressure while maintaining attention to detail.
* Strong communication skills and the ability to work well within a team.
* Flexibility to work various shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
* Passion for cooking and a desire to learn new techniques in the kitchen.
